Marfa is a city in the high desert of the Trans-Pecos in far West Texas, located between the Davis Mountains and Big Bend National Park. It is the county seat of Presidio County, and its population as of the 2010 United States Census was 1,981. The city was founded in the early 1880s as a waterstop; the population increased during World War II, but the growth stalled and reversed somewhat during the late 20th century. Today, Marfa is a tourist destination and a major center for Minimalist art. Attractions include Building 98, the Chinati Foundation, artisan shops, historical architecture, a classic Texas town square, modern art installments, art galleries, and the Marfa lights.(via Wikipedia)
This year I traveled to Jamaica, Paris, NYC, Boston and a host of others places.
I could of never of imagined that a last minute trip to Marfa, Texas would be my most unforgettable experience of them all.
Below you will find 5 (out of a million) reasons I fell in love with Marfa!

#1 Big Bend National Park
Big Bend serves as the most epic background to Marfa the view from afar is breathtaking.
To truly be blown away you have to make the 2 hour scenic road trip (from Marfa).
I cant think of anything more beautiful then the open roads, clear skies, majestic mountains and random road runners.
Side note: while the mountains are beautiful its also deceptive. Its filled with loose rocks, needle sharp cactus and very large ants....that have wings!

#2 The Mixture of Art and Nature
Marfa is full of random art installations, exhibits and galleries.
You will find liquor stores with western murals, homes with vibrant colors and graffiti filled walls.
Accompanied by the beautiful backdrop of the mountains of Big Bend.
The love will truly set in at night fall when the pitch black sky becomes filled with stars.

Its where the free spirits come to roam and simply be.
Its the land of writers, artist, singers and Winnebago owners.
I can freely walk around in a sheer, sequins dress, Chanel denim shorts and patent leather tennis shoes in the middle of the desert without even a pinch of judgment.
I truly felt inspired by the energy and the people of Marfa.
Not to mention I was crowned a Fashion Maven while visiting the historical Hotel Paisano.
(Hotel Pasiono is where the movie Giant featuring James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor was filmed)

I always imagined if I was stranded in the desert dying of thirst, that my mirage would not be of pool of water but instead of a Prada store.
Well, clearly artists Elmgreen and Dragset shared my same shallow vision
Prada, Marfa is a permanently installed sculpture in which contains shoes and handbags from Prada's 2005 collection.
It essentially gives the feel of a Prada store in the middle of nowhere.
In my opinion this installation epitomizes the definition of Random&Chic so it was only right that we meet.
